The RCMP has identified Shaun Hoole as the victim found in a burned car in Pender Harbour in September.

The RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified a Sechelt man as the deceased found in a burning vehicle in the Ruby Lake area in September.

A Dec. 15 IHIT press release identified 50-year-old Shaun Hoole, the registered owner of the white 2016 Volvo XC90, as the victim.

On Sept. 28, the Egmont and District Volunteer Fire Department notified the Sunshine Coast RCMP of a vehicle fire in the 15500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway (at Dan Bosch Park) just before 1:15 a.m.

IHIT took over the investigation and is still working with the Sunshine Coast RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

The Harbour Spiel reports that the parking area of Dan Bosch Park was cordoned off that day and was reopened by the next day.

The RCMP appealed to the public for information in September and is doing so again with this latest release of information.

IHIT is identifying Hoole “in hopes of furthering their investigation,” said the release.

“Investigators continue working to build a timeline of Mr. Hoole’s movements leading up to his death," said Sgt.Timothy Pierotti of IHIT in the release. “We are urging anyone who had contact with Mr. Hoole in the days leading up to September 28, who has yet to speak to police or those with new information to share, to please come forward.”

Anyone with information who has yet to speak to police is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected]
