The market at Athiana Acres on No. 2 Road has been cancelled for this Sunday, according to a post on Instagram.

A market at a Steveston farm has been cancelled “due to complications with the City of Richmond and the Agricultural Land Commission,” according to a post on Instagram from Athiana Acres.

The regenerative farm on No. 2 Road, south of Andrews Road, has been running a market since June 1, and had planned to keep running weekly markets until Oct. 26. The announcement stated this weekend’s market, scheduled for Sunday, June 15, is cancelled.

Athiana Acres stated in its post they are working to comply with requests from the city and the ALC “so that we can continue to operate The Market for the remaining dates of the season.”

According to the city’s business licence directory, Athiana Acres has a licence for a roadside stand to sell “farm products grown on the farm, vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers.”

Athiana Acres, in its Instagram post, mentioned several vendors would be selling their wares at their market with goods from local businesses, including “farmers, makers, bakers and more.”

Posts on Instagram show a large tent with plastic panels that appears to be their market venue.

The City of Richmond said there are some “compliance issues” with the farm, but because it’s an ongoing issue, they cannot comment further.
