Veteran Richmond MLA Linda Reid has vowed to track down the people responsible for launching a teenage porn website in her name.
An angry Reid told the News Thursday she was extremely frustrated and dismayed by the appearance on Wednesday of the lindareid.com site on her campaign website and Facebook page. Her actual address is lindareid.ca.
Reid, bidding for her sixth consecutive term in office in Richmond-East, was in no doubt the timing of the launch the opening day of election campaigning was deliberate.
I have people still trying to get to the bottom of it, but we do know that the company behind it Arizona-based and that theyve held the rights to this (address) since to 2010, said Reid.
But they only launched it yesterday? Whatever is going on here will come out, it always does.
Someone is behind it and time will tell, but there are ways of finding out and thats what were doing right now.
Reid said she would hope that opposing parties were not behind the apparent hack, as she wouldnt wish this on any other candidate.
Meanwhile, Reid said shes also mystified by reports that Elections B.C. is looking into the absence of financing authorization for her actual website, which would be in violation of the Election Act.
Were trying to get clarification from Elections B.C., but I can tell you I take great pride in everything I do and everything is always accounted for, Reid added.
No one from Elections B.C. replied at the time of the News going to press.
Also running in Richmond-East are: Gian Sihota (NDP); Nathaniel Lim (BC Conservative) and Ping Chen (Excalibur).
