Maple Lane and McKinney elementary schools will be the next schools in line in Richmond to be seismically upgraded – to the tune of $19. 3 million.
This was announced by the Minister of Education Rob Fleming on Thursday morning in front a pre-loaded site at Mitchell elementary, which will also see construction starting shortly on its seismic upgrade project.
The Maple Lane and McKinney projects are expected to be completed by spring 2022, with construction starting at the former in the summer and at the latter in the fall.
“This will help us deliver 640 more safe student seats ready for Richmond students,” Fleming said in the announcement.
Eight Richmond schools are currently being seismically upgraded.
Mitchell elementary is expected to be ready by fall 2021.
