Richmond residents seem to be bending the COVID-19 curve.

Only 17 new infections were detected in the past week (June 13-19), down from 28 last week and 41 the week before, according to data from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

Cases of COVID-19 also continue to drop across the province – yesterday’s provincial COVID-19 media release noted only 75 new cases across the province over the previous 24-hour period.

In the meantime, vaccination rates are creeping up in Richmond.

The BCCDC reported last week 80 per cent of Steveston residents had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas this week 83 per cent, aged 12 and up, are reported to be vaccinated.

The Gilmore/Shellmont/East/Hamilton area is 79 per cent vaccinated – up from 76 per cent last week.
