Value Village in Richmond is the latest business to be affected by positive cases of COVID-19.

A spokesperson for the Granville Avenue store confirmed at least one member of staff has tested positive for the virus and the store was being deep-cleaned on Friday night.

However, according to an employee, who asked not to be named, staff were told on Friday morning that several workers had tested positive and management had no intention of closing the store straight away.

The employee who contacted the Richmond News said management is refusing to tell them who tested positive so they’ve no way of knowing if they've been in contact with them.

“They are putting hundreds of people's lives at risk," said the worker.

In an emailed statement, the Value Village spokesperson said only one “team member” tested positive.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have conducted a deep clean of the store and, as always, will continue to follow provincial and local health unit guidance,” the statement added.

The News has asked Value Village when the staff member in question last worked at the store.
