A “brief hot spell” will hit Richmond and the Lower Mainland this weekend, according to Environment Canada.
The agency issued a special weather statement Saturday, warning of high temperatures that will continue to early next week, as a ridge of high pressure builds over southern B.C. this weekend.
Temperatures will peak on Sunday, according to Environment Canada, with daily maximum temperatures reaching the mid-30s – particularly in Howe Sound and the eastern Fraser Valley.
Overnight temperatures, meanwhile, will be in the high teens.
Monday will also be hot, but temperatures won’t reach the values expected on Sunday, due to “weak inflow from the Pacific Ocean.”
“A heat warning may be issued for the Lower Mainland region once there is increased confidence in the degree to which Monday’s weak inflow will moderate the inland temperatures,” reads the Environment Canada statement.
