As part of the #RichmondHasHeart campaign, some city staff spent part of one work day painting decorative rocks – since then, they have continued on their own personal time, according to the city.

With many city services shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic, some staff have been redeployed to promoting physical distancing.

The #RichmondHasHeart campaign is meant to promote positive support for those dealing with COVID-19, and to build community, explained city spokesperson Clay Adams.

The campaign has been positive and many photos and messages have been posted online, he added.

Painting rocks with positive messages to be placed in city parks is part of the #RichmondHasHeart initiative.

“Recognizing the value of such messages and the enthusiasm of the staff involved, they were allowed to pursue the idea,” Adams explained. “The efforts of their work can be seen around Garry Point Park.”
