A Richmond cyclist was the victim of a hit-and-run last weekend.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, the 48-year-old man was hit by a car at the intersection of Francis and Gilbert roads.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.
Proper safety equipment, said police, helped reduce the severity of the cyclist’s injuries.
RCMP are now searching for the vehicle and driver, who fled the scene after hitting the cyclist. They were last seen driving eastbound on Francis Road in a blue SUV.
“Police are investigating this collision as a hit and run,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang.
“The blue SUV is likely to have sustained some damage consistent with colliding with a cyclist. We are asking anyone in the community to contact us if they have any information or dash cam footage regarding this incident. Even the smallest detail could greatly assist us.”
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Const. K. Chung at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2019-29583.
