Richmond pool empties out after false alarm sounds

Fire fighters and other emergency personnel attended when an alarm sounded at the Minoru Centre for Active Living.

Dozens of swimmers, wrapped in silver emergency blankets, as well as seniors were huddled outside of the Minoru Centre for Active Living this afternoon.

They were evacuated from the pool and seniors centre Tuesday afternoon after the fire alarm went off.

After the people were evacuated, however, it was determined to be a false alarm.

After waiting outside about 10 minutes, with fire fighters and other emergency personnel in attendance, the building was given the "all clear," explained city spokesperson Clay Adams, at which time the patrons were allowed back into the building.
