Pathways Clubhouse will be hosting its eighth annual “Taking Care of Business” Breakfast on Nov. 8 to show its appreciation for supporters and volunteers of the non-profit.
It is their first in-person breakfast, which used to have more than 250 people in attendance, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
This year, the main focus is bringing employment back to the forefront. Due to the hardships COVID-19 caused for many businesses, jobs were lost and transitional employment for Clubhouse members was put on hold.
“We have so many members who are willing and capable for employment, so it’s just up to us to support them,” said Dave MacDonald, executive director of Pathways Clubhouse.
Before COVID-19, MacDonald said, Pathways Clubhouse had so much success, they eventually didn’t have to pitch their employment program to businesses.
“We were instead thanking those who have helped us with employment services,” said MacDonald.
The non-profit organization helps provide resources such as access to housing, education and employment for those living with mental illness.
Taking Care of Business is a one-hour breakfast at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel.
A Clubhouse member will be the keynote speaker and share their experiences, recovery and future goals.
It is free to apply and become a member of Pathways Clubhouse.
The organization is working to shift perspectives on what it means to be living with mental illness.
They want to remove the stigma of labels such as “user” or “patient” and members of the Clubhouse are looked at instead as contributors and participants.
The deadline for registration for the Taking Care of Business breakfast is Wednesday, Nov. 2.
