Teresa Wat, MLA for Richmond North-Centre, has been given a new role in Opposition at the legislature in Victoria.
Among the changes to the critics’ roles dished out Tuesday by B.C. Liberal Party leader Andrew Wilkinson, Wat has been named “critic to Multiculturalism.”
Wat was first elected as an MLA for Richmond Centre in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017 in the new North-Centre riding.
Since the 2017 election, Wat has served as co-critic on Trade for the Official Opposition, but previously, when the Liberals were in office, served as the Minister of International Trade and Minister Responsible for the Asia Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism.
Among the other changes to the BC Liberal Caucus:
• Linda Larson moves from Childcare to Agriculture;
• Michael Lee moves from Transportation to Attorney General;
• Ben Stewart becomes co-critic for Citizens’ Services and Trade;
• Mike Bernier moves from Education to Oil and Gas Development, under the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources;
• Norm Letnick moves from Agriculture to Health;
• Joan Isaacs becomes critic for Seniors Care, under the Ministry of Health.
In terms of the remainder of the roles, long-serving Richmond-Steveston MLA John Yap remains as critic for Liquor, Gaming and ICBC.
