Richmond library to host free event with award-winning Indigenous author

Award-winning Cree author David A. Robertson will be holding a free virtual presentation and reading with Richmond Public Library on Sept. 20, 2022.

Robertson will be reading from his latest release and first fiction novel written for adults ⁠— The Theory of Crows, which "features a father-daughter journey that explores the bonds of family and the gifts offered by the land."

He will also be answering questions from the audience.

The event is suitable for teens and adults and participants will gain an insight into the writing process for Robertson's novel, which is considered one of the most anticipated Canadian fiction releases this fall.

Robertson is the recipient of the 2021 Writers' Union of Canada Freedom to Read Award and multiple literary awards such as two Governor General's Literary Awards. He has written more than 20 titles for children, teens and adults. Robertson is a member of Norway House Cree Nation and is currently based in Winnipeg.

Indigenous Author Talk with David A. Robertson is an online event and it will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Details and registration for the event are available on the library's website.

This event is part of the library's programming to recognize and acknowledge National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
