The City of Richmond is looking for community members to lead conversations on climate change.
The program called “Energize Richmond” aims to raise awareness about energy and climate issues in Richmond, empower “leaders” in the community to take action and identify “new solutions to support those most vulnerable to rising energy costs and the climate crisis."
The first step is finding “community leaders” who will lead these discussions.
Those selected to this volunteer position will receive three training sessions, and will be asked to convene their “communities of interest” several times over a period of three to six months.
Community leaders will receive access to resources, handy tips, a goals checklist and funding to support discussions and actions.
Interested participants don’t need prior climate change knowledge or climate action experience to be an Energize Richmond community leader, rather they are expected to demonstrate they are connected to a group with similar interests such as a church group, school, neighbourhood association or strata corporation.
The application deadline is Monday, Nov. 13. Leaders will receive a City of Richmond certificate upon completing the program goals.
