Richmond firefighters on the move

New fire hall will be LEED Gold standard

Richmond firefighters have moved across the street into their temporary digs at Gilbert Road and Granville Avenue as the City of Richmond prepares to bulldoze Fire Hall No. 1.

A new $22 million fire hall is set to replace the old one by early 2017.

Richmond Fire Rescue services will be spread out between the temporary hall, located in the old courthouse, as well as the Shellmont and Sea Island stations.

An interesting feature of the new hall will be its LEED Gold status, as designed by HCMA architecture firm.

The city claims the new facility will also be post-disaster ready based on current safety standards.

The new, temporary address for the fire hall is 6391 Granville Avenue, Richmond, V7C 4M9. The non-emergency telephone number is 604-278-5131 and email is [email protected].
