Tap water stations are now available to provide fresh cold water at City of Richmond events and festivals.
The water station is a portable tap water unit connected to the Citys water distribution system through an available connection point. There are two Richmond tap water stations, each with two water fountains and three individual taps to refill reusable water containers.
The stations have already been proven popular at Project WET, the Engineering and Public Works Open House, Ships to Shore Steveston 2011 and the Steveston Salmon Festival on Canada Day.
The City of Richmond provides water that is regularly tested and meets the requirements of the Provincial Health Act, including the British Columbia Drinking Water Protection Act and the British Columbia Drinking Water Regulation. This ensures families consume some of the cleanest and freshest drinking water in North America. Drinking tap water is a sustainable practice as water flows from Metro Vancouvers watersheds and straight into refillable water containersnot into plastic disposable bottles.
The tap water stations are a unique addition to events and are an innovative way to promote sustainability. Private functions and community events may rent the stations but a service fee will be charged to cover the delivery cost of the stations. To request a station, please send an email to the Citys Public Works Service Centre at [email protected] or by calling 604-244-1264. Water station requests may not be granted due to its availability.
