Richmondites who feel they’ve been unfairly treated by any local or provincial governments, or by other public organizations, are invited to an event this week to voice their complaints.
The B.C. Ombudsperson and a mobile investigation team are hosting four meetings throughout the Lower Mainland to share what the ombudsperson does and to hear in-person complaints. The team will be in Richmond on Friday, Feb. 1.
The provincial Office of the Ombudsperson works to determine whether B.C. provincial and local public authorities are acting fairly and reasonably. The organization says it receives approximately 8,000 enquiries and complaints each year.
On Friday, B.C. Ombudsperson, Jay Chalke, will give a presentation at 9:30 a.m. for approximately 90 minutes, explaining the role of the Ombusperson at Trinity Western University (5900 Minoru Blvd.) Separately, in-person interviews can be scheduled during the day from 8:30 a.m. to noon by calling 1-800-567-FAIR (3247).
“For 40 years we have been helping resolve issues of unfairness. We receive over 8,000 complaints and enquiries annually and have jurisdiction over a wide range of organizations in B.C. including provincial and municipal governments, health authorities, schools and universities,” says the B.C. Ombudsperson website.
The Ombudsperson team will also be in Vancouver on Wednesday and Thursday.
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-567-FAIR (3247).
