Richmond developer homicide clue revealed

Police release pictures of car they believe is connected to shooting death of Amarjit Sandhu

Homicide investigators have released pictures of a vehicle they suspect may have been involved in the killing of Richmond developer Amarjit Sandhu.

Sandhu died in hospital after being shot in broad daylight at close range on Saturday, June 4 near Tim Hortons in the Coppersmith shopping plaza in south Richmond, near Ironwood Plaza.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) described the shooting, which was carried out a few feet from innocent bystanders, as “targeted.”

The public is now being asked to help identify a “vehicle of interest” and what appears to be a gold or silver Chevrolet Trailblazer.

IHIT told media two weeks ago that they’re looking for a male in his early to mid 20s, approximately six-feet tall, of slim/slender build, who was wearing a grey or light grey coloured hoodie or coat, medium to dark coloured pants and possibly wearing a baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

Sandhu was a prominent developer in Richmond and politically active, as he was a regular contributor to local politicians’ election campaigns.

The Voice Online, an Indo-Canadian news outlet, stated Sandhu was very active in Vancouver’s Ross Street Gurdwara politics and that he was “vehemently” opposed the current executive of the gurdwara.
