Richmond coyote spotted following traffic lights

Residents remind pet owners to bring their pets indoors

Most coyotes are spotted jaywalking on the streets of Richmond, but one decided to cross the road following the rules.

Richmond resident Joy Vincencio Cinco spotted a coyote walking across the road infront of her as she was stopped at a red light around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 23.

She told the Richmond News the coyote was heading around Garden City Road, near Williams Road, toward South Arm Park.

The sight of coyotes in Richmond is common, but many residents still took to social media to share other areas the animal species was spotted and reminded pet owners to bring their cats and dogs indoors.

Meanwhile, others commended the coyote's respect for the rules on the road by crossing when it should and "obeying the traffic lights."
