Annual shred-a-thon is taking place next week.

Cambie Community Centre will be holding a secure shredding event next week.

To celebrate Earth Day, community members can bring any paperwork with personal information to the Shred-A-Thon and also recycle any unwanted electronic devices.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) will refurbish collected items, which will then be donated to those in need. All devices collected will be "recycled responsibly" instead of going to the landfill, according to the ERA.

Accepted items for donation are as follows:

  • Desktop & laptop computers
  • Tablets
  • Cell Phones/ Smart Phones/ Home Phones
  • Printers
  • Servers
  • Handheld Electronics (Mp3 Players, Gaming Consoles etc)
  • Gaming consoles
  • Stereo Equipment
  • Cameras
  • USB Keys & Other Storage Devices
  • External Hard Drives
  • Cords, cables
  • Peripherals (mice, keyboards, CDs, DVDs, etc)

The event will be held in the outdoor area on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No home or personal appliances will be accepted.
