Tax exemptions common for religious and community groups

Three new facilities will be getting a municipal tax exemption: The CIty Centre Community Centre, Cranberry Children's Centre and Vancouver International Buddhist Progressive Society.

exemptions are common under the Community Charter and general council policy.

The city notes religious properties accounted for $421,789 in direct municipal taxes waived in 2014. Other non-city owned or leased properties accounted for $146,486 in waived taxes. City facilities accounted for $2.4 million worth of waived taxes.
