Bylaw officers and the ALC paid a visit on Tuesday to a trucking company located on farmland.

A property in the Agricultural Land Reserve – whose owner asked for it to be used for parking commercial vehicles – continues to be used “contrary to zoning.”

Richmond city bylaws and the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) were seen at the property on No. 6 Road on Tuesday.

City spokesperson Clay Adams said the property “remains under active bylaw enforcement as it continues to be used contrary to zoning.”

The owner, a numbered company, asked city council in November to forward an application to the ALC to allow them to park 36 commercial vehicles on the property.

This was denied by city council.

In fact, a report to city council noted commercial vehicles were already being parked on the property.

Furthermore, the report stated, unauthorized fill was deposited on the site without permission from the city nor the ALC.

The property is at 5440 No. 6 Rd., near International Place south of Westminster Highway.

A sign on the property reads “Rideway Transport Ltd.”

The 2.5-acre property used to be a nursery but it no longer has farm status.
