This Saturday a few Richmond babes are getting ready to show their undies, all for a good cause.

This Saturday, July 9, is BC Cancer Foundations annual Underwear Affair, and staff at the Richmond Cancer Care Clinic decided to do their bid to help support of the patients they care for everyday who are living with, and being treated for, cancers below the waist.

The team, called Richmond Cancer Clinic Boxer Babes, will participate in the 5-km walk or 10-km run where hundreds of walkers and runners of all ages and athletic abilities, dressed in everything from briefs and boy-shorts to t-shirts and track suits, raise funds and awareness for cancers below the waist. After they cross the finish line, the EXPOsed Afterparty kicks off with dancing, drinks and crazy costume contests

Team Captain Lisa Chao, who has run in the past for fundraisers for prostate cancer and breast cancer, is determined to help find a cure. Other participants, such as Debbie Tablotney, are running to honour lost loved ones. Debbie's sister passed away in April, 2010 after a three year fight with colon cancer.

With nearly 48 percent of newly diagnosed cancers in BC being cancers below the waist, participants in the BC Cancer Foundations Underwear Affair have the opportunity to make a personal difference in the fight against cancer, and collectively, will have an enormous impact on funding for cancer research, treatment and care.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at Seaforth Armoury, 1650 Burrard Street, in Vancouver with a costume contest, followed by a 10-km run.
