Police are appealing for help in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted robbery inside a Richmond city centre business.

According to Richmond RCMP, a man tried to pull a woman’s purse off her arm as she sat inside the premises in the 5900 block of No 3 Road, close to its intersection with Westminster Highway.

Mounties say the woman resisted the attempted theft and ended up getting dragged across a table before hitting a chair, resulting in a serious injury.

Police say the suspect then fled, on foot, westbound from the business at around 2:30 p.m. on June 1.

The suspect is described as:

Caucasian

5’10 tall

slim build

black hair

The suspect was wearing:

a black mask

a black zip-up hoodie with a graphic design on the back

black shoes

a black baseball hat

black shorts with a red stripe.

“While a number of witnesses remained on scene, unfortunately, despite all efforts by our investigator to date, the suspect remains unidentified,” said Supt. Julie Drotar.

“We are asking the public to take a close look at this photo. If you recognize this man or have information about this incident call us.”
