The deadline for nominations for the 2013 Richmond Arts Awards is fast approaching.

The deadline for nominations for the 2013 Richmond Arts Awards is fast approaching.

The closing date is Monday, March 18 and award nominations are sought in six categories: Business and the Arts; Volunteerism; Cultural Leadership; Artistic Innovation; Arts Education and Youth Arts. All artistic disciplines are eligible including visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, craft, environmental arts and new media.

To date, the program has attracted 104 nominations among the six categories, recognizing both well-established institutions as well as rising stars in Richmonds music, theatre, dance and literary arts scenes. Three finalists in each of the six categories will be named on Friday, April 19.

Established in 2009, the Richmond Arts Awards program is designed to recognize the achievements in and contributions to the arts by Richmond residents, artists, educators, organizers and business leaders. Richmond Arts Awards 2013 was developed in partnership by the City of Richmond with the Richmond Arts Coalition, sponsored by the Richmond News and Canadian Western Bank.
