Richmond Mounties have issued a warning after a woman was sexually assaulted while walking home last Friday night.

The woman, in her 20s, was attacked from behind at around 11 p.m. as she walked west on Blundell Road near No. 3 Road.

Moments earlier, she had got off the Canada Line at Brighouse Station and walked south on No. 3 Road, before turning west onto Blundell.

Although warning the public to be on its guard, Richmond RCMP says it believes the sexual assault was a lone, random act and no similar incidents have been reported.

The suspect is described as around five feet, seven inches to five feet, nine inches tall. He has a medium build and is between 30 and 40 years old. He is lighter skinned but of unknown ethnicity and has an oval face and short, cropped dark hair.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing dark or black colored knee length shorts and a black or dark coloured t-shirt or tank top.

Richmond RCMP's serious crimes unit is currently reviewing other sexual assault investigations that took place in the Lower Mainland and, at this point, no similarities have been found between incident and others.
