Rainbow Market in Richmond to continue as convenience store despite 'closing' signs

A new owner has bought out a Tomsett-area convenience store.

With a 7-Eleven in Steveston shutting its doors, the “closing” signs at Rainbow Market at No. 4 and Cambie roads might cause some anxiety for the Tomsett neighbourhood.

However, it seems the store has been sold and will continue operating as a convenience store.

The 7-Eleven at No. 1 Road and Steveston Highway is closing permanently because its rent is going up. Its closure has sparked a petition from the neighbourhood to stay open.

The 7-Eleven at No. 3 and Williams roads closed in December 2020.

The Rainbow Market sells typical convenience store staples like cigarettes, lottery tickets and candy, but it also has a large variety of flowers and plants for sale. Many of the items were marked at 50 per cent off.
