The lights are back on in Richmond and at Vancouver International Airport, after a car crash left more than 4,000 residents without power on Sunday afternoon.
Shortly before 4 p.m., BC Hydro reported that a car crash near Westminster Highway and Garden City Road damaged a power pole affecting 4,000 customers.

Even YVR reported having a brief power outage but “backup systems” kicked in quickly, according the airport.
YVR experienced a power outage resulting from an accident at Westminster Highway & Garden City affecting all of Sea Island. Backup systems kicked in and power has been restored at the airport. Crews were on scene within an hour, but by nearly 10:30 p.m., BC Hydro tweeted saying power was still out for approximately 2,000 customers.

This one was caused by a motor vehicle accident and it caused some significant damage, so our crews are looking at some pretty lengthy repairs to get power back for those still out.

According to BC Hydro’s outage map, power has been restored in areas that were affected by the crash.
