Power restored in Richmond and at YVR following car crash

The lights are back on in Richmond and at Vancouver International Airport, after a car crash left more than 4,000 residents without power on Sunday afternoon. Shortly before 4 p.m.

The lights are back on in Richmond and at Vancouver International Airport, after a car crash left more than 4,000 residents without power on Sunday afternoon.

Shortly before 4 p.m., BC Hydro reported that a car crash near Westminster Highway and Garden City Road damaged a power pole affecting 4,000 customers.

 

 

Even YVR reported having a brief power outage but “backup systems” kicked in quickly, according the airport.

 

 

Crews were on scene within an hour, but by nearly 10:30 p.m., BC Hydro tweeted saying power was still out for approximately 2,000 customers.

 

 

 

According to BC Hydro’s outage map, power has been restored in areas that were affected by the crash.
