A female pedestrian in her 80s has died after being struck by a car on Friday evening on Minoru Boulevard, just west of Richmond Centre shopping mall.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on July 13, Richmond RCMP responded to the intersection at Minoru Boulevard and Murdoch Avenue for reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a 2008 Acura sedan.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s from Richmond, was conscious and transported to hospital with apparently minor injuries.

However, the pedestrian unfortunately succumbed to her injuries the following day.

The driver, a woman in her 60s, also from Richmond, remained at the scene and has been cooperative with police.

Neither speed nor alcohol is considered a factor in this collision. The pedestrian is believed to have been crossing in a designated crosswalk.

The Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit (RSU) has taken over the investigation.

If anyone witnessed this collision or may have dash cam footage from the area, contact Const. E. Chow from the Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit at 604-278-1212.
