Olympian among contestants for Steveston's 2nd Annual Taco-Eating Contest

Race-walking bronze medalist Evan Dunfee is among the six challengers for Ryan Fleming's crown at the charity event

It’s back again, by public demand!

Steveston’s 2nd Annual Taco Eating Contest is limbering up to be a mouth-watering challenge this year, with no less than seven hungry hopefuls lined up, including last year’s winner Ryan Fleming, who devoured 17 chicken tacos in 30 minutes, and slid in a few push-ups at the same time.

However, one of this year’s title contenders is none other than Richmond’s very own race-walking Olympic bronze medallist, Evan Dunfee, who is more used to endurance of the legs, not the stomach.

Raising funds for Wigs for Kids

The event on Monday, June 27 is being organized by the Little Mexico Cantina and The Dinnell Real Estate Group with funds raised going to Steveston-based charity Wigs for Kids, which helps children dealing with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

The taco-eating contest will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the Dinnell Real Estate Groups’ Facebook page.

The event is also open to the public and everyone is welcome to go and watch the fun, featuring a DJ on site and “celebrity guests.”
