Whatever your plans, wherever you plan to be on Saturday, theres a very good chance youll run into a civic election polling station in Richmond.
In a bid to combat a record low turn-out three years ago, the City of Richmond has went to great lengths to make sure that a voters reason for not making their mark is a lack of opportunity.
Voters have a total of 32 places they can cast their ballot this election when the polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
The city is targeting weekend high traffic areas for the first time, with voting opportunities in Aberdeen and Lansdowne shopping centres and at Watermania in Riverport.
Although having your voting card handy will speed the process, voters can still pick their eight councillors, one mayor and seven school trustees by carrying two pieces of I.D.
At least one of the pieces of I.D. must provide the electors signature and must show proof of residence.
To be an eligible voter you must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age by election day, resident of B.C. for at least the last six months and resident of Richmond for 30 days immediately prior to election day, and not disqualified by law from voting.
If you require translation assistance at the voting place, you may bring one person with you to assist you in the voting booth.
If you require physical assistance at the voting place you may bring one person with you to assist you in the voting booth.
Whatever happens, there will be a new blood on city council and the school board, with several incumbents of either office stepping down or bidding to step up.
