Mounties probe bullet fragments at Richmond home

Shots may have been fired at address near Cambie and No. 5 roads in early hours of Sunday

Richmond RCMP is investigating the discovery of two bullet fragments found inside a residence in the 11000 block of Oldfield Avenue, near Cambie and No. 5 roads.

A resident contacted the police shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 to report the discovery.

Police believe that a firearm was discharged and directed at the home some 10 hours earlier. No injuries have been reported.

Officers from the Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit have been gathering evidence in the area. They have assumed custody of the investigation and are actively looking into possible motives.

“We wish to speak to anyone who may have any information on this incident,” Richmond RCMP’s Cpl. Dennis Hwang said.

“We have reason to believe that a small white hatchback may be associated. Police are urging community residents to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or behaviour to police immediately.”
