A section of Highway 17A in Ladner was closed on Saturday following an accident involving a motorcycle and a SUV.

A motorcyclist is recovering from his injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 17A in Ladner on Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place near the entrance to Highway 99 and resulted in the intersection being closed as RCMP gathered evidence from the scene and made the area safe for travel.

“The crash involved an SUV and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was conscious and breathing at the scene,” said Cpl. Mike Halskov of the RCMP B.C. Highway Patrol. “The driver of the SUV was uninjured. Both drivers are from the Lower Mainland.”

The intersection re-opened just after 6 p.m. on Saturday.

B.C. Highway Patrol is continuing the investigation, and impairment was not a contributing factor, said Halskov.
