Excavator accident causes outage in East Richmond

Over 2,000 BC Hydro customers in east Richmond are without power Thursday morning.

The outage is affecting 2,292 residents in the area north of Blundell Road, east of No. 6 Road, south of Marine way and west of Boundary Road.

According to BC Hydro, the power outage was cut off sine 7:30 a.m. and was caused by a motor vehicle accident on Westminster Highway.

However, residents in the Hamilton community posted on social media saying that the outage was caused by an excavator knocking over a power line pole.
