More facilities are set to reopen in Richmond.

The city announced Tuesday that the Richmond Art Gallery, Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site and South Arm Outdoor Pool will all reopen later this week.

The facilities have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Richmond Art Gallery will have limited public access starting Thursday, July 23, with a new temporary entrance at the northeast side of the Richmond Cultural Centre (7700 Minoru Gate).

While drop-ins are allowed at the art gallery, visitors are encouraged to pre-book their visit by calling 604-247-8363 or emailing [email protected]. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed in the gallery at a time, and operating hours will be Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 4:30 p.m.

Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site will also partially reopen to the public Thursday, July 23. Operating hours will be Thursday to Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

The main shipyard building is the only building that will be open at this time, according to the city, and there will be a limit of 30 people inside the building at a time. Visitors are welcome to drop-in.

Meanwhile, the South Arm Outdoor Pool will be open for use starting Saturday, July 25.

Pool-goers will be required to register for specific time allotments to ensure a safe environment and physical distancing.

Registration can be done online at www.richmond.ca/register using your MyRichmond account, or by calling 604-276-4300.

Bookings can be made up to seven days in advance or as close as two hours ahead of the session time, if space is available.

The city says that strict safety protocols will be in place at the facilities.
