Canada Border Services agents seized methamphetamines at Vancouver International Airport in two separate incidents.
Seventeen kilograms bound for Hong Kong were seized from two travellers on March 7, resulting in federal charges of possession for the purpose of exportation and possession for the purpose of trafficking against Tsz Kin Choy and Ho Hin Wong.
Choy was released on bail but Wong remains in custody until their next court appearance.
On May 5, a suitcase at YVR was found to contain six kilograms of methamphetamines, this time bound for Japan.
Three charges have been laid against Wai Chi Leung for exporting a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of exportation and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Both cases were handed over to RCMP Federal Policing – Pacific Region.
“We applaud the vigilance and expertise of our CBSA partners, whose efforts prevented dangerous drugs from allegedly being trafficked internationally,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb, media relations officer with RCMP Federal Policing – Pacific Region.
“Our shared commitment to public safety continues to make a real difference, both here at home and beyond our borders.”
Leung remains in custody until her next court appearance, scheduled for July 23.
