So far B.C. lottery winners have redeemed more than $163 million in winning lottery tickets this year.
While the vast majority of them have been for small wins, there have been several big wins this year hitting seven digits and one lucky bus driver pulling down $18.7 million.
The B.C. Lottery Corp. announced more than 40 big winners in Metro Vancouver this year; while some of those were bought online or outside the metro area (we're looking at you, Langley), 40 tickets worth tens of millions were bought at stores and shops throughout the region.
In Vancouver there were eight big-winner tickets bought, which is good, but Surrey actually had more with 10.
A couple places seem to be a bit lucky, with two recent winners. One is the Superstore on 104th Avenue in Surrey, which saw a 6/49 and a Lotto Max winner.
Burnaby seems lucky, with a Save-On-Foods on Marine Way where two 6/49 winners bought their tickets. Also in Burnaby is a Husky gas station on Canada Way which saw two winners just over a year apart (the first was in June 2021).
One unusual trend is the streak of Lotto Max winners recently. While the number of Lotto Max and 6/49 (or BC/49) winners is even, 10 of the Lotto Max wins have happened since the beginning of October.
