Dear Editor,
Re: “Councillor has nothing to apologize for,” Letters, July 7.
Letter writer Carol Rennie is right that Coun. Carol Day has nothing to apologize for.
Our councillors are supposed to represent all of us and some of us have concerns about the sustainability of rapid development.
Mayor Brodie shut her down and I wonder why?
It looks like he doesn’t want transparency on Coun. Linda McPhail’s husband’s real estate deal.
All real estate demolitions should have an environmental assessment. Are “light industrial buildings” worth the loss of mature trees?
In the short term, maybe. But not in the long term. And isn’t there a 17,000 square foot building there already? Can they not work with that?
Our councillors are elected to represent us. In a democracy, they are supposed to be free to ask questions, even if the answers may be uncomfortable.
