Richmond Food Bank recently received a $2,000 donation and a large number of non-perishable items from a local Buddhist group.

Nyingma Palyul Meditation Centre made a donation to the local food bank earlier this week.

Hajira Hussain, executive director at Richmond Food Bank, said an increase of people in need are accessing the food bank.

She added that this is a rippling effect of "the pandemic, inflation and the current economic uncertainty."

"By donating quality, nutritious food from our most needed items list along with a generous monetary donation, the Nyingma Meditation Centre has demonstrated a deep understanding of the current crisis and the need for food assistance in our community," said Hussain.

"We are grateful for their kind donation and for their commitment to help us serve our neighbours in need."
