Knife-brandishing youth reported near Richmond school

Police investigation is active and ongoing.

Police are investigating a weapons complaint that allegedly took place near a Richmond school.

A youth allegedly brandished a knife and threatened another youth near a Richmond elementary school on Tuesday.

According to Richmond RCMP, police responded to a weapons complaint near General Currie elementary in the 8000 block of General Currie Road shortly before 4:30 p.m. on April 30.

"According to the victim one male youth allegedly uttered verbal threats towards him while brandishing a knife," said Cpl. Adriana O'Malley, Richmond RCMP spokesperson.

The youth victim was not physically injured and the suspect, along with a second youth, left before police arrived.

"While multiple witnesses remained on scene, police are asking anyone who may have been in the area and not spoken with police to contact Richmond RCMP," said O'Malley.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
