The fast fashionistas of Vancouver shed a few tears recently when news broke that Forever 21 was closing down their Robson Street store. Now comes work that retailer Indigo is moving in with a brand new two-storey bookstore.

The two-level space “will reflect Indigo’s full new concept,” touts the bookseller.

On site at this new downtown Vancouver flagship customers will find books, lifestyle products, a full kids section, a café, and community space.

If you’re thinking “but didn’t they have a store on Robson?” you aren’t going crazy. Chapters, which was taken over by Indigo, closed their Robson and Howe location–a mere two-and-a-half blocks away–in 2015, citing too high rent.

Indigo promised they’d come back in the same general vicinity, and has since opened a small “Indigo Spirit” store on Granville, not too far away.

“We are so very excited to reconnect with this community who are among the best and most passionate readers in the country,” said Heather Reisman, Indigo CEO and Chief Booklover.

The new Indigo Vancouver flagship is projecting a Fall 2018 opening.
