ICBC has announced that all driver road tests are cancelled starting March 17 to help limit the spread of COVID-19 (the coronavirus).

The decision follows public health authorities’ recommendation to be vigilant around social distancing.

According to ICBC, approximately 7,500 road tests are taken a week in B.C.

And the cancellation of all road tests for the next two weeks will impact approximately 15,000 appointments.

“The tests, in most cases, involve ICBC driver examiners conducting a driving examination in an individual’s vehicle, in addition to some interaction at the Driver Licensing Office front counter,” said ICBC in a statement.

People who have scheduled road tests in the next week will be notified by ICBC regarding their test cancellation.

Examinees whom have road tests scheduled are asked to visit icbc.com or call 1-800-950-1498.

ICBC offices are also directing customers to pay traffic tickets and other fines via phone, online and mail rather than in person.
