ICBC is offering phone-in and online services for drivers who need to renew their driver’s licences or defer payments while maintaining physical distancing requirements.
Customers can renew their expiring drive licences by calling ICBC’s Driver Licensing Call Centre and a temporary 90-day paper licence will be mailed to them.
Extensions are only for routine renewals, reinstatement of a licence and the replacement of a lost licence. This does not include expiring BC Services Cards and BC Identification Cards.
B.C.’s insurance company is also offering customers – who are already on a monthly autoplan payment – the option to defer their insurance payments up to 90 days with no penalty.
Enhanced Driver’s Licence and Enhanced Identification Card processes are also suspended until further notice.
According to ICBC, in order to ensure physical distancing requirements, ICBC will only be offering certain services online including, obtaining driving records, changing of addresses and paying violation tickets.
All driver knowledge tests are suspended indefinitely unless a there is a legal requirement such as a new resident to B.C.
