The City of Richmond is seeking feedback from residents on its updated Flood Protection Management Strategy.

The new strategy builds on the original one adopted in 2008. The city says it’s completed all of the short-term goals from the original strategy and most of the long-term ones.

“The City of Richmond has made significant progress … and is recognized as a leading dike authority in British Columbia,” Kim Decker, city spokesperson, said in a news release.

The new strategy outlines next steps for city policy and planning as well as long-term strategies for infrastructure upgrades.

There will also be two open-house style meetings with visual displays where city staff will be on hand to meet with residents in person and explain the strategy.

They’re happening at City Hall on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m.
