Update: 4 people hospitalized after harmful gas incident at Richmond McDonald’s

A noxious substance was reportedly released in the No. 3 Road McDonald's in Richmond on Wednesday morning.

According to a Reddit post by user u/pzkl_, students at a nearby school were warned not to "go to the McDonald's on No. 3 Road for lunch."

Cpl. Dennis Hwang, Richmond RCMP spokesperson, confirmed police are investigating the incident.

Patrons at the restaurant are being "treated and decontaminated," he added.

A spokesperson from the B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed they received a report of the incident at around 11:26 a.m.

Three ambulances responded and four patients were sent to the hospital "in stable condition."

Another person was treated at the scene but did not need to be hospitalized.
