The Lower Mainland Green Team has done cleanups in Richmond in the past.

The Lower Mainland Green Team is inviting Richmond residents to join them to clean up Terra Nova Rural Park on two upcoming weekends.

The charity, which is part of Green Teams of Canada, will be organizing the cleanups in conjunction with the City of Richmond on April 17 and April 23 as part of Earth Week celebrations.

Gloves, tools and refreshments will be provided along with some instruction, and participants don’t need to have any experience to take part.

By taking part in the event, the Lower Mainland Green Team says community members can “experience the benefits of being out in nature including improved mental and physical health and reduced stress levels.

And by learning about issues like removing invasive species, communities "are better equipped to tackle such problems,” the team added in a press release.
