With the tax season officially open, the Richmond Public Library and Family Christian Fellowship are offering free income tax clinics for low income families throughout March and April.
“We are thankful and blessed that the income tax clinic for the past seven years has been extending a helping hand in preparing and filling income taxes for students, seniors, new immigrants and people with modest income in our community,” said Pastor Abe Lagayan, representative of the Family Christian Fellowship Church in a press release.
To qualify for this free service, individuals must have a maximum income of $30,000 and a couple must have a maximum income of $40,000 plus $2,500 per child. Sessions are 45 minutes per person and couples must sign up for one time slot each.
The clinics run on Saturdays and take place on March 3 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., March 10, 17, 24 and April 7, 14, 21, and 28 between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Brighouse Branch located at 7700 Minoru Gate.
Trained volunteers will help participants fill in their income tax returns and registered participants should remember to bring all relevant documents such as T4, T5 and Canada Child Benefit slips. All print documents are returned to the taxpayer at the end of their session.
To register, call 604-231-6413 or visit the Brighouse Branch.
