Jas Johal is going back into broadcasting almost a year after losing his seat as the MLA for Richmond-Queensborough.

Johal lost his seat in last fall’s election, after sitting as a BC Liberal MLA for one term, to the NDP’s Aman Singh.

He will replace Linda Steele, who stepped back from her show on CKNW this summer to take care of her father.

His new show will be called the Jas Johal Show and will air weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m. starting Aug. 23.

Johal began working at CKNW in 1991 and then moved on to BCTV in 1994.

He became the BC correspondent for Global National in 2005 and then was named Asia Bureau Chief for Global News in 2008, based in China. He was later based in New Delhi, India.

Johal was elected to the provincial legislature in 2017.
