Firefighters called to "black smoke" near Richmond Public Library on Wednesday

Origin and cause of fire under investigation, says Richmond Fire-Rescue.

A small fire was discovered near Richmond Public Library on Wednesday.

Richmond firefighters were called out to reports of black smoke Wednesday near Richmond Public Library.

According to Richmond Fire-Rescue, firefighters discovered a "small fire" in some bushes next to the parkade before quickly distinguishing it.

Al McGrath, deputy fire chief told the Richmond News that a crew "...mechanically cleared the smoke from the parkade," adding that the "debris was later cleaned up by city work crews."

McGrath said that the origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
