The RCMP gang unit seized a loaded firearm and various illicit drugs last week after executing a search warrant at a Richmond home.

The search warrant was executed by the Richmond RCMP Gang Enforcement Team and the General Investigation Section.

Charges related to the seized drugs are pending and the investigation remains active and on-going, explained media relations officer Cpl. Adriana O’Malley.

The investigation was also supported by frontline police officers and officers from the Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team of Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-UGET).

“I want to thank all of the officers from Richmond RCMP and CFSEU-UGET involved in this investigation,” said Chief Supt. Dave Chauhan, officer-in-charge of Richmond RCMP. “While our work on it is not yet over, knowing these items have been taken off of the streets of Richmond is a win for public safety.”

Charges were laid for seven firearms-related offences against Jasper Catua Arcangel, who was arrested and then released on a number of conditions, including to not possess firearms.

Arcangel is scheduled to appear in Richmond Provincial Court on June 7.

Charges include possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence and careless use or storage of a firearm.
